A fine article. The needless and self-congratualatory cruelty of this saga is striking. Basic human decency was shunted aside in favour of political point scoring (in Gallagan's case) and political cowardice (in the University of Tennessee's case).
I have hope that Galligan will publicly repudiate what he did, and ask that Grove be forgiven for her adolescent indiscretion. And in return, forgiveness for Galligan's actions can begin, which is a much bigger project.
And so far as the U of T's administration? They were the adults in the room. They need to answer some questions.
I agree. The sides are too entrenched right now at the expense of both young people. They don't have to be proxies. I wish there was some way to help undo the damage he did to her and at the same time get them both off the hook for a lifetime of anger and regret. I see a lot of bile going Galligans way and can't help there is a way both can reconcile and come out with the least amount of damage and perhaps even whole.
Many won't agree with what this author wrote. If this is the case, it's worthless in my opinion to engage in a "blog/comment battle" by further writing disgusting comments against the character that this author obviously is speaking up against. I'd rather not give this author any power and instead focus on the ongoing fight/battle for culture in all communities. In my opinion nothing will always be fair or black and white. There is responsibility and accountability in all parties. And we can CHOOSE what to fight for. And...no fight is ever equal.
It’s obvious how you decided to write this article; in defense of Groves. Groves said a racial slur period, and there is other evidence of her saying it again. There is no way you do not know the severity of that word at the age of 16. Your are in high school, you have learned about slavery, you have a phone. Everyone knows the history of that world unless you are an actual child. She decided to use that word and it’s racist past. She posted the video. She cannot be mad that it resurfaced. You made your bed now lay in it.

Is Galligan transgendered? He looks to be. And it would explain his sociopathy.
