Sunday Morning Reads - 12/13/20
A habit I’ve developed over the years is, when I’m scrolling through my Twitter timeline, is bookmarking links to pieces that look like interesting reading. By the end of the week, I usually have a decent collection of them and I thought that maybe making a weekly list to share them with you would be fun for both of us so here is the first edition.
I hope you enjoy and feel free to share any links you’ve got to pieces that struck your fancy down in the comments!
At Business Insider Anthony L. Fisher, who has been admirably open about his own mental health struggles, reminds us that making room for conversations about mental health is extremely important heading into COVID winter
For his Substack newsletter, Noah Smith dissects the “Japan is a homogeneous society” talking point that is floating around both the right wing and left wing
At PsyPost, Beth Ellwood writes about how researches have determined that those who feel the need to see themselves as victims have a specific personality construct
While this piece is from two years it appeared in my TL this week so it counts - Bridget Phetasy wrote for MEL Magazine about the time she kinda accidentally joined a sex cult
For TechDirt, Mike Masnick points out that Biden’s top tech advisor understands Section 230 about as well as Josh Hawley does
At Arc Digital, Kat Rosenfield rebuts the obviously incorrect but very clickbait notion that white women are a Republican voting monolith
Aagin, feel free to add any pieces you’ve come across and liked this past week in the comments.
