Agreed in part. I do think it’s similar to how Elon behaved when he bought Twitter.

Whether or not you agree is ultimately unimportant; what’s emerged is much leaner and meaner.

The hiring freeze and buyout offer, again, could be viewed as a shock designed to really jostle comfort developed over, really, the past twenty-or-so years. I am very close to a Fed….her org isn’t much bigger numbers-wise than it was when she started there in 2017, but everyone on staff is at a significantly higher pay grade. Yes, they’re without contractor support reasons, now for other reasons, but there’s now a few people who are working at a GS-12 or higher in DC. And they’re really not happy about going back to the office. https://youtu.be/ihRPNAXVJG8?si=7SV3Qobd1tXqtM6t

Can’t say I’m unbiased when it comes to the DEI purge. I am someone with a racial background that’s more unclear the more I dig, the Norman (going back to Spanish Florida), and recent Irish genes win out. I have blue eyes, so I must just be another affluent white dude.

My wife and I eloped. The first time she met my dad’s brother was after he died. Quite a bit of confusion seeing someone who looked very much like my dad, but with long black hair and dark eyes.

The almost set-asides based on race or gender actually ARE against the law. Somewhere that got lost in the name of…*spins the wheel*

The thing they are planning to re-emphasize is Schedule A. As someone with a disability as defined by the ADA from 1991, I’m tempted to dive in after the hiring freeze is lifts. At the same time, private disability will pay me pretty darn well until I turn 65…..

Medicaid is not affected and a judge has blocked the freeze for now.

I would think a “libertarian” would welcome a pause in government spending.
