Announcement Of Upcoming Changes...
Taking a break from our regularly scheduled programming to let you guys know the plan going forward here on Substack.
Since I started writing here on a regular basis I’ve been thinking of ways to approach monetization. After spending months thinking about the best way to approach balancing free vs paid content I remembered the most elegant solution to this problem I’ve ever seen - the Chapo Trap House model.
I know but stay with me here.
The dirtbag leftists, for being a bunch of dirtbag leftists, are pretty good at capitalism. Their Patreon has one level (technically two levels now to help subscribers get around the Patreon tax increase) and half of their content is paywalled. That’s it. Easy, simple, cheap.
So, dear readers, starting March 1st half of the content I post on Substack will be for subscribers only -- that means there will be one free post and one subscriber-only post per week. The pricing tiers will stay the same as they are now, either $5 a month or $50 for a year subscription.
If you are one of my subscribers on Patreon don’t worry, I will be pausing those subscriptions so that you aren’t double-billed. As of March 1st, I will be moving the early access to my podcast episodes to Substack so if you want to keep (or get!) that access you’ll need to switch over.
So that’s the plan, I tried to make it as easy and inexpensive as possible. To everyone who has already become paid subscribers, thank you SO MUCH! To the rest of you, I hope you consider becoming a paid subscriber.
And don’t worry, I’ll remind everyone of the plan a few more times before March 1st.
